CMS offer 30 years’ experience in tooling products used throughout the furniture industry. From simple injection moulding through to more complex structures made from environmentally friendly materials.

Any project given to CMS is managed in the UK by our in house CAD team from initial concept through to product sign off. Clients are updated weekly of project progress by means of Gantt Charts and regular communications, therefore project confidence is assured.

Rapid prototyping takes virtual designs from computer aided design (CAD) or animation modeling software, transforms them into thin, virtual, horizontal cross-sections and then creates each cross-section in physical space, one after the next until the model is finished. The resulting process makes the virtual model and the physical model correspond almost identically.
The most common method we use to prototype products is SLS (Selective laser sintering) is an additive rapid manufacturing technique that uses a high power LASER (e.g. a carbon dioxide laser) to fuse small particles of plastic, metal, ceramic, or glass powders into a mass representing a desired 3-dimensional object. The laser selectively fuses powdered material by scanning cross-sections generated from a 3-D digital description of the part (for example from a CAD file or scan data) on the surface of a powder bed. After each cross-section is scanned, the powder bed is lowered by one layer thickness, a new layer of material is applied on top, and the process is repeated until the part is completed.
In addition to rapid prototyping, we also offer finite element analysis (FEA) which can help to evaluate the strength of individual component designs prior to manufacture, any necessary changes to the design required to improve the strength of components can be finalised before the components are manufactured.
Our design department work with the latest software release from Solidworks™. Alongside this our designers are skilled in FEA, enabling us to replicate the strict testing standards of Fira and Bifma at the design stage.
To accompany our other services we also offer Injection Moulding. Injection Moulding is a manufacturing process for producing parts from both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials.
Our offices and warehouse facility enable us to accommodate increased stockholdings to satisfy the ‘just in time’ deliveries. With facilities able to hold in excess of 3,400 pallets.
